Grits and Beauty of Philadelphia- Having only lived in Philly for 2 months now, I have already realized that it is full of beauty and greatness, and grit and danger at the same time.
The most recent lecture was by Eileen Neff, who talked about her transition from a painter to a "technological-based-artist." Her work really didn't impress me. It wasn't excited and her voice slowly lulled me out of any interest. She explained that she was just beginning to work with computers to create art, and I could see she was correct. I am by no means an expert with Photoshop, but I could tell that her work was sub-par and cheesy. Some people may have liked her work, but for me, it didn't catch my eye.

In this assignment we had to use Photoshop to edit an article in recent news. Tom Brady threw for 5 touchdowns in one quarter (a record) in the snow. His coach, Bill Belichick, is wearing shorts on the cold October evening in Foxboro, MA.

This project was to use the skills on Photoshop to go over a scanned picture. It involved using layers and experiment with other Photoshop techniques.
Sharon Louden spoke to us today about her art and installation. She uses special glow in the dark art that was very fun to see. Sharon then used technology to show us how it looked with lights on to when the lights were off with a fading technique. She characterizes herself as an "artist" which I liked because many of us have no idea what we want to do; we just like art. Lastly, she showed us a video she made which really displayed her technological side.

Celtics and Chronic 2009 basketball seasons start a week from today.. I cannot wait.

In all honesty, todays lecture has been the only lecture that I have actually paid attention to. I think I have a better understanding about what I can expect in the future. I'm excited to get going with it. Also, I have never heard the fire alarms before and think that it was pretty funny.

Chronic 2009 taking the intramural basketball championship this year at Temple. Let's do it.

Oh yes, and Lupe concert this Saturday. Yezzzzir!!

The lecture yesterday was given by a sculptor by the name of Bradley Litwin. It is impossible to miss his work when you walk into the art building. His pieces are on display to the left when you first stroll in. His sculptures aren't your typical half-naked figures, they are precise "kinetic" sculptures. They are all mechanical and take more than skill in art to make them work. The amount of math that was required had to be exact. It is very impressive and I could watch some of his work for hours. He spoke with us about the difficulty and fun he had in making them.

Got a touchdown yesterday.. our team still lost, but look out for the playoffs!
Pairing picture for modes of transportation around campus, although most of us just stick to walking.
These pairing photographs feature my new home, The Edge, where i dwell throughout the day.
There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat around Temple, two examples are shown in this pairing.

I had always wanted to scan my face in a scanner. I finally got to do that.. and in school!! I then used the pen tool to go over my face and had to make up the colors (because the eyedropper tool wasn't cooperating).
Have you ever stepped into an elevator and the person following you pushes the button for the next floor up? Yes, it happens to all of us, and I'm sure I'm not the only one bothered by it. My warning label tells people to not push that one-floor-up button and take the stairs. Its a good exercise.
